Omnipresent Temples for The Gods

Temples at Land, at Sea and a Sacred Monkey Sanctuary

Signature trips

This trip involves walking on the courtyards of some iconographic temples in South Bali. In Mengwi a royal temple is built to near perfection. Three courtyards flow into one another, while splendid merus seem to reach for the skies. In Alas Kedaton, dozens of playful monkeys protect a mysterious temple, locked into a forest. Then it is off to the western shores of Bali. Perched on a rock withstanding the pounding of the Indian Ocean, a few lonely Hindu shrines commemorate the arrival of Hinduism on Bali. The scene is particularly spectacular at sunset, when the image of the temple is blackened by a setting sun in the background.
