Sidemen

Mount Agung, the abode of the Gods, is the spiritual heart of Bali. Towering at 3142m above the ocean and exquisite rice fields, the mighty volcano offers great trekking and the occasion to visit Besakih, the mother temple of the Balinese. In the shadow of the volcano, along the sacred Unda river, Sidemen is an artists' village and home of the hereditary rulers of several very traditional inland villages. The village is an attractive base to experience a Bali that seems a million miles away from the bustle of the south. In Sidemen, there is a workshop where some of Bali's finest endek cloth and songket textiles are woven; with threads of silver and gold.
